The
opening round of the Masters stands a chance of being hit by thunderstorms and weather forecasters in
America are even suggesting there is a chance of a tornado in the state of
Georgia.
A good
deal of cloud cover is virtually guaranteed when honourary starters Jack
Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player tee off at 12.40pm BST, and there is an
outside chance of 'intense and isolated thundery downpours' later on, according
to ITV weather.
The Weather Channel in America, who have
reported that there will be 'severe thundestorms, some tornadoes and damaging
winds' across the eastern States, and that by late afternoon the severe weather
is expected to reach Georgia.
Northwest
Georgia is even among the locations at the highest risk of a tornado, according
to the weather report, which says there is a four out of 10 chance of a
twister.
Augusta lies in the east of the state and should, hopefully, be out of the danger zone however if the most severe weather misses the Masters there will be storms.
