Vijay Singh will partner Westwood in California
Vijay Singh is listed in Pebble Beach tee-times despite deer antler spray controversy. Last Thursday he pulled out of the Phoenix Open complaining of a back injury. This happened just the day after he admitted he had been using a deer antler spray previously found to discover a prohibited growth hormone. Of course this withdrawal had some people wondering if he had actually been suspended form the PGA Tour but it appears that after practising for this weeks event he has been in talks with the Tour commissioner Yim Finchem. Although unavailable for comment Singh, who celebrates his 50th birthday this month and is still inside the top 100, admits having used the spray has stated he didnt know its link to the prohibited substance. The Tour carries out drug-testing but does
not take blood, and that is thought to be the only way to detect the
banned IGF-1 hormone.
