Rolex has a multi-layered involvement with women’s golf that has continued to evolve and increase over the years. The leading Swiss watchmaker has been a sponsor and partner of the Solheim Cup since the beginning in 1990.
“Rolex has been an amazing partner of the Solheim Cup since its inception and of the LPGA for decades, and we are thrilled to have the company as one of our two Global Partners once again for 2013,” 2013 Solheim Cup Tournament Director Becky Newell said. “It is sponsors like Rolex that help make the Solheim Cup great, and we appreciate Rolex’s loyalty and dedication to our one-of-a-kind event. When people think of Rolex, they think of quality and excellence, and that is what the Solheim Cup is all about.”
Rolex’s brand presence will be visible throughout Colorado Golf Club during the Solheim Cup, and Rolex clocks will keep time on the property during tournament week. Rolex also has a countdown clock on SolheimCup.com – a helpful feature that counts down the days and hours until this year’s event begins.
More than 100,000 spectators are expected for the 2013 Solheim Cup, which pits the top 12 women’s professional golfers from Europe against the United States’ top dozen stars. These teams are led by captains Liselotte Neumann for Europe and Meg Mallon for the United States. Europe won the event in 2011 in Ireland, but the U.S. Team has never lost on home soil (6-0), making Colorado Golf Club a promising setting for intense competition.
