Rory Admits He Was Wrong


Rory McIlroy admits that maybe he should have persevered with his toothache and not withdrawn from the Honda Classic but insists his Nike clubs are not to blame for his poor form.
McIlroy quit half way through the second round of the tournament, initially saying he was in "a bad place mentally", before later citing a painful wisdom tooth.
The world No 1, who was seven-over-par and in danger of missing the cut when he withdrew, told Sports Illustrated: "It was a reactive decision.

"What I should have done is take my drop, chip it on, try to make a five and play my hardest on the back nine, even if I shot 85. What I did was not good for the tournament, not good for the kids and the fans who were out there watching me - it was not the right thing to do."
