Ladies European Tour (LET) - Interview with Karine Icher, the LET’s top ranked player

World No.26 Karine Icher from France made a sensational start
to the 2014 season when she tied for third at the ISPS HANDA Women’s
Australian Open. With her earnings of 47,078.40 euro,
the 35-year-old Florida-based Frenchwoman topped the LET’s ISPS HANDA
Order of Merit where she remains after four tournaments played, just
ahead of American Cheyenne Woods. Here is a quick catch-up with Icher, a
star of Europe’s away victory at The 2013 Solheim Cup.

Karine, what went particularly well in Australia?
My putting was very consistent.
What did you enjoy at The Victoria Golf Club?
I enjoyed the fact that we played a shorter course with more strategy required.
What could you have done better?
I could have holed more putts and got closer to the holes.
What is your objective for 2014?
To be in the top 10 on the Rolex Women’s World Ranking.
What do you need to do to win on the LPGA this year?
Putt better!
You had an incredible Solheim Cup.  Do you feel stronger now?
Yes, much stronger.
Do you get more recognition in the USA?
A little bit more, but especially in Australia and Canada !
What is the difference in recognition in France, versus America?
Golf is much bigger in the States. Golf in France is so small! We need to grow!
What is it like representing France in the USA?
I am proud to represent my country!
Fred is your husband, caddie and technical coach. How do you manage to organise your routine and get on so well?
We are used to it. It's not easy but with the years it gets easier.
In 2012, you took a year out after the birth of your daughter. When was she born and has anything changed since then?
I have more quality time in my practice now because I have no time!
What are your favourite things?
Food: Fois gras
Drink: Red wine
Ball: Titleist
Hobbies: shopping and spa
Guilty pleasure: jewellery
How do you spend a perfect day?
Wake up late, play with my daughter, have a treat like spa or hair dresser, and have dinner with friends.
What’s in your bag?
Clubs: Callaway Apex Pro
Shaft: Nippon 950 R
